Varsity won tonight vs. Creal Springs 48 to 31. Cody Summers was our leading scorer with 17 pts., and 5 steals. Gavin Suver added 16 pts.and 19 rebounds. Austin Settle had 8 pts., Nick Shelton had 5 pts, and 11 rebounds. Ike Hutchcraft added 2 pts. Tristen Estep gave another great effort and played well defensively. JV’s lost 36 to 28. In the JV game Logan Page had 7 pts., Ike Hutchcraft and Phil Riley had 6pts. each, Noah Jones added 4 pts., and Caleb Kearney scored 5 pts. Cheerleaders performed well, Jordan Rodriguez did a fine job playing the national anthem on his guitar. Next game is home next Wednesday vs. Ziegler.

Varsity defeated Creal Springs on Friday night 51 to 41. Gavin Suver had 19 pts. and 25 rebounds. Austin Settle played his best all around game of the season adding 14 pts. including some key baskets down the stretch, also had 5 assists. Nick Shelton had 9 pts, and 9 rebounds. Cody Summers played well with 5 pts. and 5 steals. Ike Hutchcraft added 4 pts. Tristen Estep played a great defensive game also adding 4 rebounds and 2 steals, before fouling out. Cheerleaders also did another excellent job. Play Creal Springs tonite again here at home, JV at 6:00, Varsity following. Hope to see you there.

Just a quick update on the basketball team. We have been playing in the Pickneyville tournament this week. First game the varsity defeated Desoto, Jordan Rodriquez was our leading scorer with 16 pts, then Cody Summers with 12, Nick Shelton with 10. Lost our next game to Tamaroa, Gavin Suver was our scoring leader with 10 pts. Last night we beat Thompsonville by a point, 36 to 35. Gavin Suver was our leading scorer with 20 points, followed by Jordan Rodriquez with 9 points. Play again Friday night at 8:00 vs. either Giant City or St.Ann’s. Then we turn around and play at Rend Lake college early Saturday morning at 9:00 am, so we will have some tired boys! Kids are working hard and showing improvement.

We had 4 of our students qualify to go to the state track meet in Salem on May 10th. Jared and Jenna Johnston in the 1600m run, Caleb Forby in both the long jump and 100m dash, and Christy Hayden in the girls shotput. All of the track athletes who qualified and didn’t qualify gave great efforts yesterday, we had several students just miss state by finishing third ( you had to finish first or second to make state).

The volleyball team took 3rd place in the state this weekend. After a loss to Germantown, the girls fought back with a win over Geff to claim 3rd place in the state tournament.
